Bob Browne, CFA

Chief Investment Officer

Bob Browne is executive vice president and chief investment officer for Northern Trust. He is a member of Northern Trust's Management Group. He is also a co-portfolio manager of the Northern Global Tactical Asset Allocation Fund.


Bob chairs the firm’s Investment Policy Committee, which sets investment policy for all Northern Trust groups in all asset classes. He is responsible for investment performance, process and philosophy across multiple investment strategies including fixed income, active equity and passive investments. Bob joined Northern Trust in January 2009 and has 30 years of investment experience.


From 2004 to 2009, Bob worked for ING Investment Management and was the firm’s chief investment officer for fixed income and proprietary investments. In this capacity, he oversaw $120 billion in assets under management across retail and institutional clients, as well as the firm’s own insurance assets. From 2002 to 2004, Bob was founder and managing partner of Picador Capital, an alternative investment firm. From 1999 to 2001, he was co-head of Americas fixed income for Merrill Lynch Investments and he also worked in the firm’s London office from 1997 to 1999 as a senior portfolio manager. Bob spent the first eight years of his career, from 1989 until 1997, at JP Morgan Investment working as a global fixed income and currency portfolio manager in the firm’s Tokyo and London offices.


Bob holds a bachelor’s degree with a major in economics from the College of the Holy Cross. He also has a master’s in international business studies from the University of South Carolina. Bob is a CFA® charterholder.

Brad Camden, CFA

Head of Fixed Income Strategy, Northern Trust Asset Management

Bradley Camden, Senior Vice President of Northern Trust, is a member of the active long duration strategy team and responsible for research and implementation of several quantitative fixed income strategies. He currently co-manages the Northern Core Bond Fund, Northern Fixed Income Fund and Northern High Yield Fixed Income Fund.


Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2005, Mr. Camden was a member of Northern Trust’s Global Opportunities Leadership Development (GOLD) program where he completed rotations in Tax Advantage Equity Indexing, Equity Research and Fixed Income.


Mr. Camden holds a B.A. in economics from DePauw University. He is an active CFA® Charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Chicago.

Sheri Hawkins, CFA

Head of Product Management, Northern Trust Asset Management

Sheri B. Hawkins is the head of product management for Northern Trust Asset Management. She serves on the executive management committee and oversees global product strategy. Her team is responsible for translating business strategy into comprehensive product plans and ensuring that products are effectively managed through the product life cycle.


Sheri began her 20-year career in the investment business as an equity portfolio manager before moving on to hold business management roles spanning several functional areas of asset management. She has served as chief financial officer of the asset management business unit, where she was responsible for forecasting, planning, analysis and management reporting for Northern Trust’s investment practice. Prior to leading the finance team, she served as the chief administrative officer of investments, with responsibility for leading and coordinating business, financial and infrastructure initiatives for portfolio management and trading units.


Sheri has expertise in quantitative investment strategies and spent over 10 years as an equity portfolio manager. During that time, she led the tax advantaged equity portfolio management team with responsibility for investment performance, research, compliance, workflow and infrastructure for $10 billion in client assets.


Sheri joined Northern Trust in 1992 in the firm’s management development program. She received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degree in financial markets and trading from the Illinois Institute of Technology's Stuart School of Business. She is a CFA charterholder, a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Chicago, and she is an associated person of the National Futures Association. Sheri is also a Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow and serves on the board of trustees for Children’s Home + Aid Society.

Michael Hunstad, Ph.D.

Head of Quantitative Strategies, Northern Trust Asset Management

Michael Hunstad is head of quantitative strategies at Northern Trust Asset Management with responsibility for all quantitative equity research, strategist, and quantitative equity portfolio management activities.


Previously, Michael was director of quantitative research where he was responsible for leading Northern Trust Asset Management's factor-based research and product development programs.


Prior to joining Northern Trust, he was head of research at Breakwater Capital, an algorithmic trading firm and hedge fund. Previously, he was head of quantitative asset allocation at Allstate Investments, LLC and a quantitative analyst with a long-short equity hedge fund. He also served as an adjunct professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology.


Michael holds a Ph.D. in mathematics, an MBA in finance, an M.A. in econometrics and a bachelor's degree in economics. He has published more than 50 articles and papers in professional and academic journals including Pensions & Investments, European Pensions, the Journal of Index Investing, the Alternative Investment Analyst Review, the Journal of Financial and Strategic Decisions and the Journal of Corporate Treasury Management. Michael has also spoken at more than 200 conferences across North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia/New Zealand.

Connie Lindsey

Head of Corporate Social Responsibility and Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Northern Trust

Connie L. Lindsey is Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility and Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Northern Trust, Chicago. She is responsible for the design and implementation of the global Corporate Social Responsibility, Community Development and Investments, and Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy for Northern Trust and the development of goals, policies, and programs appropriate to the brand and business unit strategies. In addition, Ms. Lindsey provides oversight and leadership to the firm's response to environmental matters as well as social issues, within the marketplace, workplace, and the community.


Prior to becoming the Head of CSR, Ms. Lindsey led the client servicing teams in the Public Entities and Institutions segment in the Corporate & Institutional Services business, serving public fund and not-for-profit clients. Over the course of her Northern Trust career, she has held a number of leadership roles, including Deputy Business Head in Operations and Technology, Group Head in Northern Trust's Wealth Management business, Director of Enterprise Relationship Management, and Manager in Treasury Management Consulting and Product Management and holds the Certified Treasury Professional designation.


Ms. Lindsey is the former National Board President of Girl Scouts of the USA. She joined the Girl Scouts board in 2005 and was elected National Board President, the highest-ranking volunteer of this 2.5 million-member organization, in 2008 for a three-year term. She was re-elected to the role of National Board President at the 2011 convention for another three-year term. In this role she provided guidance in three vital areas—policy, fund-raising, and leadership. She was an integral part of the Girl Scout transformation, committed to building and sustaining membership growth and ensuring girls receive a premier leadership development experience.


Ms. Lindsey serves on several civic and charitable boards to include Leadership Greater Chicago (Board President and Fellow since 2001); McCormick Theological Seminary (Trustee); Obama Foundation Inclusion Council (Co-Chair); YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago; Global Reporting Initiative (GRI); and Executives' Club of Chicago.


Ms. Lindsey received her BA in Finance at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, has completed the Harvard Business School Executive Education Corporate Social Responsibility program, and is also a licensed Qualified Administrator of The Intercultural Development Inventory®. She is a public and motivational speaker on topics of diversity and inclusion, corporate responsibility, leadership, and personal and professional empowerment.


Ms. Lindsey has been profiled on national television on PBS' 30GoodMinutes and ABC's Heart and Soul. She has been recognized for her leadership professionally and in the community by the Anti-Defamation League's Woman of Achievement Award, Chicago Defender Women of Excellence Award, Chicago United's Business Leaders of Color Award, Leadership Greater Chicago's Distinguished Fellow Award, Life Directions-Guiding Light Award, National Diversity Council's Most Powerful and Influential Women Award, Women's Bar Association of Illinois-Advocacy Award, and YWCA's Outstanding Leader Award in Community Leadership. In 2011 Ms. Lindsey was honored with the Spirit of Achievement award by Loretto Hospital Foundation. She was the first woman to receive the award in its eight year history. The recognition established the Connie L. Lindsey, Cancer Resource Center at Loretto Hospital in Chicago. She is an Inroads, Inc. Alumna and has been inducted into the Inroads Alumni Hall of Fame.

Jim McDonald 

Chief Investment Strategist, Northern Trust 

Jim McDonald is an executive vice president and the chief investment strategist for Northern Trust. He is responsible for overseeing the strategic and tactical asset allocation policy for our institutional and wealth management clients globally. He chairs the Northern Trust Tactical Asset Allocation Committee and is a co-portfolio manager of the Northern Global Tactical Asset Allocation Fund. In addition, he is a member of the Investment Policy Committee and trustee of the 50 South Capital Alpha Strategies hedge fund.

Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2001 as the director of equity research, Jim was director of equity research at ABN AMRO in New York and Chicago (1994-2000) and an equity research analyst at ABN AMRO following the environmental services industry (1990-1994). He started his professional career in 1981 with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Detroit.

Jim received a BBA from the University of Michigan and an MBA degree with high distinction from Babson College. He is a member of the CFA® Society of Chicago and a registered CPA in the state of Michigan.

Melinda Mecca

Director of Investment Solutions, Northern Trust Asset Management

Melinda Mecca is director of investment solutions at Northern Trust Asset Management. Melinda leads the firm's investment solutions activities, including the design and delivery of research-driven, risk-managed, multi-asset class model and custom portfolios. Her team employs a consultative approach to portfolio construction and fulfillment, supporting the development of holistic, outcome-oriented solutions that are tailored to meet diverse client needs.


Melinda continues to serve as head of managed accounts where she is responsible for the delivery of investment solutions and portfolio construction expertise to wealth management and financial intermediary clients.


Melinda began her career at an independent asset management firm where she served in multiple capacities, including director of marketing and chief operating officer. She joined Northern Trust in 2000 when the firm acquired the assets of Carl Domino Associates, LP, where she served as a partner and member of the senior leadership team. Melinda is a member of the Northern Trust Asset Management Operating Group, the CEO Advisory Council and serves on the Board of Managers for 50 South Capital, LLC.

Colin Robertson

Head of Fixed Income 

Colin Robertson is an executive vice president and head of fixed income for Northern Trust Asset Management. Colin is responsible for overseeing fixed income investments for individual and institutional investment management accounts at Northern Trust as well as for Northern Funds and Northern Institutional Funds. Through his leadership managing interest rate-sensitive and credit-sensitive fixed income portfolios, Northern Trust has built a world-class fixed income team, investment process and products.


Prior to joining Northern Trust as a senior vice president in July 1999, Colin worked for Mellon Financial Corporation where he was the chief investment officer of Mellon Global Securities Lending. At the same time, Colin was a senior manager representing investment activities for Mellon Capital Management and the Boston Company.


Prior to Mellon Financial, Colin managed short/intermediate money for Harris Investment Management. In addition, he has seven years of experience as a sell side trader of mortgages, treasuries, asset-backed, corporate, agency and various other fixed income asset types across the entire yield curve spectrum.


Colin is a board member of the American Bankers Association Investment Advisory Committee. In addition, Colin is a former trustee of the LaGrange, Illinois, Firemen's Pension Fund, and a former board member and vice president of the LaGrange, Illinois, Policemen's Pension Fund.


Colin received a bachelor's degree in business from Indiana University and an MBA degree in finance/international management from the Kellogg Graduate School at Northwestern University.

Carl Tannenbaum

Chief Economist, Northern Trust

Carl Tannenbaum is the Chief Economist for Northern Trust. In this role, he briefs clients and colleagues on the economy and business conditions, prepares the bank's official economic outlook and participates in forecast surveys. He is a member of Northern Trust's investment policy committee, its capital committee, and its asset/liability management committee.

Carl publishes weekly commentaries and is frequently interviewed by media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, the New York Times and Reuters.

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Carl spent four years leading the Federal Reserve's risk section. He was deeply involved in the central bank's response to the 2008 financial crisis, helped to create and conduct its stress testing program, and advised senior Federal Reserve leaders on developments in banking and the financial markets.

Carl began his career in banking at LaSalle Bank/ABN AMRO, a global banking organization with $1 trillion in total assets. He served for more than 20 years as the organization's chief economist and head of balance sheet management.

Carl is a member and past chairman of the American Bankers Association Economic Advisory Committee, the National Association for Business Economics, the Conference of Business Economists and the North American Asset/Liability Management Association. Carl also serves on the board of Working in the Schools (WITS), a literacy organization that supports the Chicago public school system.

Carl holds an M.B.A. and a B.A. in finance and economics from the University of Chicago.

Don Straszheim

Senior Managing Director, Evercore ISI

Donald Straszheim is Senior Managing Director at Evercore ISI and heads the China Research team (since 2009). Donald has been a long-time global macro economist on Wall Street, focused on China the last 15 years – writing regularly on all aspects of China’s economy/markets – growth, development, demographics, industry, consumer, energy/enviro, trade, currency, tech, financial markets, policy, globalization and relations between the state and private sector.


Earlier in his career, Don served as Global Chief Economist at Merrill Lynch & Co (New York); as President of the Milken Institute (a non-profit think tank) (Los Angeles); as Chief Economist at Wharton Econometrics at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia), and as Founder of his own China-focused economic consultancy, Straszheim Global Advisors.


Donald received BS, MS, and PhD degrees from Purdue University. Evercore ISI is an investment banking firm headquartered in New York. Don works from Los Angeles, providing research to many of the world’s largest institutional money management firms.

Shundrawn Thomas

President, Northern Trust Asset Management

Wealth Strategist, Northern Trust

Shundrawn A. Thomas serves as President of Northern Trust Asset Management where his responsibilities include developing long-term strategy, executing operating plans, cultivating client relationships, managing vendor relationships and developing talented professionals. He also serves as a member of the Management Group for Northern Trust Corporation.


Previously, Shundrawn served as Executive Vice President, Head of Funds and Managed Accounts. In this capacity he oversaw the development, management and distribution of Northern Funds, Northern Institutional Funds, FlexShares Exchange Traded Funds as well as the Managed Accounts practice which provides investment advisory solutions to clients. Shundrawn also served as President and Chief Executive of Northern Trust Securities, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Northern Trust Corporation. Prior to joining the asset management executive team, Shundrawn served as Head of Corporate Strategy for Northern Trust Corporation. As a direct report to the Chief Executive Officer, he supported executive management with key strategic planning initiatives. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Shundrawn served as a vice president for Goldman Sachs and held positions in sales, trading and research with Morgan Stanley.


Shundrawn received a B.S. degree in accounting from Florida A&M University and an MBA degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has also completed executive education programs in corporate strategy at Chicago Booth School of Business and corporate governance at University of Notre Dame Mendoza School of Business. Shundrawn currently holds FINRA series 7 and 63 securities licenses. Shundrawn currently serves as a trustee for Wheaton College and as a board director Museum of Science & Industry, Chicago. Shundrawn is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago. His civic involvement has afforded him the opportunity to present and lecture nationally on topics including leadership, strategy, investment management and professional development.

Jason Tyler

Chief Financial Officer, Northern Trust 

Jason Tyler is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Northern Trust, a leading provider of wealth management, asset servicing, asset management and banking to corporations, institutions, affluent families and individuals. He is a member of the corporation’s Management Group.


Jason’s previous roles at Northern Trust include Global Head of Corporate Strategy, Global Head of the Institutional Group in the Asset Management business, and Chief Financial Officer for Wealth Management.


Jason joined Northern Trust from Ariel Investments, where he was Director of Research Operations and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Prior to his time at Ariel, he served in various leadership roles in Corporate Finance and Banking at American National Bank/Bank One.


Jason earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an AB from Princeton University. He is a director of TreeHouse Foods (NYSE:THS), the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, Advance Illinois, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare Foundation, and the Joffrey Ballet where he formerly served as Chairman. Jason is a past contributor and guest market expert on Bloomberg TV, Bloomberg radio, ABC News, PBS, and Fox Business.

Rob Carlen

Practice Lead, Investment Solutions

Rob is a Senior Vice President and Practice Lead for The Investment Institute within Northern Trust Asset Management , where he is responsible for product development and relationship management of middle market investment management clients across the United States. Prior to his current role, he was an Associate Client Investment Officer where he served as an extension of an institutional investor’s staff and was responsible for design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the client’s entire investment program.


Prior to his time in Asset Management, Rob worked in Corporate & Institutional Services as a member of the Client Relationship Management team in the Global Fund Services group where he was responsible for managing relationships with global investment managers. He also held roles in sales and accounting in earlier stages of his career.


Rob Joined Northern Trust in 2008 and earned his MBA from Loyola University, Quinlan School of Business. He holds series 7 and 66 licenses.

Stacy Cunningham

President,  NYSE Group

Stacey Cunningham is the President of the NYSE Group, which includes the New York Stock Exchange and a diverse range of equity and equity options exchanges, all wholly owned subsidiaries of Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE). She is the 67th President and the first woman to lead the NYSE Group in its 228 year history.

Michael Natale

Head of Intermediary Distribution

Michael Natale is Head of Intermediary Distribution. He is responsible for establishing Northern Trust Asset Management’s presence in the intermediary market and driving the adoption of our investment expertise and strategies across North America. An experienced investment industry professional, Michael has successfully built, developed and managed sales teams for more than 15 years, focusing on diversity, process and qualitative results. He has experience across channels and products, including ETFs, mutual funds and managed solutions.


Prior to joining Northern Trust, Michael spent seven years with Deutsche Bank and five years with Morgan Li where he managed and developed internal sales teams of more than 50 professionals.


Michael earned his BBA and MBA from Stetson University (Deland, FL). He is a former professional golfer and a five-time Chicago City Amateur Champion. Darek Wojnar, CFA

Head of Funds and Managed Accounts

Darek Wojnar, head of funds and managed accounts, principally leads the development, management and distribution of Northern Funds, Northern Institutional Funds, FlexShares® Exchange Traded Funds and related business activities. He also oversees the managed accounts practice, which offers investment advisory solutions to financial intermediaries and their clients.

With more than 20 years of investment industry experience and a forte for successfully building strong teams, his broad executive responsibilities include building and strengthening investment products lines, developing long-term strategy, executing operating plans, managing client and vendor relationships, and developing and retaining talented professionals at well-respected firms.

Darek offers over two decades of extraordinary success in a series of high level roles at top tier companies that include the head of ETFs for Hartford Funds (including Lattice Strategies acquired by Hartford Funds), managing director and head of U.S. iShares Product at BlackRock (including BGI acquired by BlackRock) and head of ETF product development at UBS Global Asset Management.

Darek received an MBA in finance and international business from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from New York Institute of Technology. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses and is a CFA® charterholder.

H. Lawrence Culp, Jr.

Chairman and CEO, GE

H. Lawrence (Larry) Culp, Jr., is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GE. Larry is GE’s twelfth CEO and eleventh Chairman. He joined the GE Board of Directors in April 2018 and joined GE as CEO in October 2018.


Prior to joining GE, Larry served as the President and CEO of Danaher Corporation from 2000 to 2014, and during his tenure the company increased both its revenues and its market capitalization five-fold. Investors and analysts consistently ranked him as one of the top CEOs in annual Institutional Investor surveys, and Harvard Business Review named Larry one of the Top 50 CEOs in the world.


Larry joined Danaher in 1990 at Veeder-Root, becoming President in 1993. He was appointed Group Executive and Corporate Officer in 1995, with responsibility for Danaher’s Environmental and Electronic Test and Measurement platforms while also serving as President of Fluke and Fluke Networks. He was named Executive Vice President in 1999, Chief Operating Officer in 2001, and President and CEO in 2001.


Larry is a member and the immediate past chair of the Board of Visitors and Governors of his alma mater, Washington College, and also serves on the Wake Forest University Board of Trustees. Previously, Larry was a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Business School, where he focused on leadership, strategy and general management in the MBA and executive education programs.


A member of Phi Beta Kappa, Larry earned a B.A. in Economics from Washington College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Vincent Roche

President and Chief Executive Officer, Analog Devices

As President, Chief Executive Officer, and member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Roche sets Analog Devices’ strategic vision and oversees operational execution across the business. Since becoming ADI’s president in 2012 and CEO in 2013, Mr. Roche has been instrumental in growing the organization’s market leadership in the high-performance analog sector through a strong customer-centric focus and unyielding commitment to innovation and engineering excellence. Under his leadership, ADI has expanded the breadth of its product portfolio and added new technologies and capabilities to provide more comprehensive solutions to customers’ toughest technical challenges.


Mr. Roche is only the third CEO to lead the company since its founding in 1965. He began his career at ADI in 1988, progressively gaining responsibility in product line management, strategic marketing, and business unit management roles during his early tenure. Mr. Roche held senior positions for ADI in Ireland, Massachusetts, and California, and in 2001 was given responsibility for global sales and marketing as Vice President of Worldwide Sales. In 2009, Mr. Roche was named Vice President for the newly created Worldwide Sales and Strategic Market Segments Group, where he focused on integrating ADI technology into optimized solutions for industrial, automotive, and infrastructure customers. Mr. Roche was promoted to President of ADI in 2012, taking responsibility for all R&D, sales, marketing and business development and in May 2013, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer.


Mr. Roche serves on the Board of Directors of Acacia Communications, Inc., a leading developer of high-speed coherent optical interconnect products that transform communications networks through improvements in performance and capacity and a reduction in associated costs.


Mr. Roche earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Limerick in Ireland.
